ABUJA — In a major policy review, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a secure, one-time procedure allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update their contact details.
The revised policy, which took effect on Monday, September 21, 2026, is designed specifically to offer relief to genuine candidates facing access challenges regarding their original registration credentials. Previously, JAMB restricted SIM swaps and email modifications due to stringent security safeguards against unauthorized profile tampering and fraud. However, enhanced biometric verification and identity authentication protocols have enabled the board to implement this controlled procedure securely.
Key Guidelines and Requirements for Candidates:
- One-Time Access: The update service can only be accessed once per candidate to prevent abuse.
- Mandatory Documentation: Candidates must provide their new phone number and/or email address along with a duly executed court affidavit ready for scanned upload.
- Designated Centres Only: The process begins via the candidate’s JAMB e-Facility profile and must be completed in person at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, including Professional Test Centres (PTC), Professional Registration Centres (PRC), and state offices where applicable.
- Biometric Verification: All updates are subject to strict identity and biometric authentication at the designated centres.
JAMB has strongly cautioned candidates to avoid unauthorized third-party agents, cybercafes, or fraudulent channels when attempting to update their details, emphasizing that all modifications must follow the official secure pathway.
